What does Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu cost in Chiang Mai? Membership at Gato Studio BJJ is 3,000 THB a month, or 1,500 THB for a week, and a single drop-in class or open mat is 400 THB. Under eighteens pay 2,500 THB a month on production of photo ID, kids classes are 2,500 THB a month, private lessons are 2,500 THB an hour with a black belt, and the trial Fundamentals class is free for people who have never trained. Everything is payable at the academy on Chang Phueak Road, with no joining fee and no contract.

Paying
Payment is handled at the academy rather than online. Confirm what you owe when you message ahead so there are no surprises at the door, and ask about card or transfer if you would rather not carry cash.
No contract
There is no joining fee, no minimum term and no notice period to cancel. That suits a city where a large share of the training population is here for a season rather than a decade.
Which to choose
Never trained before, ask for the free Fundamentals trial. After that the maths is simple: a month costs the same as seven and a half drop-ins and a week costs the same as under four, so if you train twice a week or more the monthly rate wins. Passing through for a week or two, take the weekly. Training once or twice in total, pay per session.
What the price includes
Coaching, not floor space
Sessions are taught rather than supervised. Head coach Nattakorn Mahittharithikrai is a black belt in the Carson Gracie lineage and teaches from the mat rather than the side of it. That is the detail people describe in the academy's 84 Google reviews. Meet the head coach.
Will I get smashed for my money
Beginners drill and work positions before rolling competitively, and the coach picks partners. Paying for a class does not mean being used as a training dummy.
Nothing to buy up front
Gi rental means you do not need to spend on a uniform before you know you want to continue, and No-Gi sessions need only a t-shirt and shorts without zips. If you have never trained, the first Fundamentals class costs nothing at all.
Too unfit, too old, no experience
