When do Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes run in Chiang Mai at Gato Studio? Group classes run Monday to Friday from 11:00 to 12:30 and again in the evening, with Fundamentals at 17:00 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and all levels classes from 18:00 to 19:30. Saturday runs kids at 09:00, a Gi class at 11:00 and an open mat from 12:00 to 13:30. Private lessons fill the mornings and afternoons by advance booking, and Sunday is closed.

Saturday finishes at 13:30 for group classes, with private lessons available until 16:00. The Thursday kids class starts at 16:15, earlier than every other evening session.
If you are brand new
Come to a Fundamentals class. They run at 17:00 on Monday and Friday in the Gi, and at 17:00 on Wednesday in No-Gi, and they last an hour.
The free trial is a Fundamentals class and it is reserved for people who have not trained before, so this is the slot to ask for when you message.
If you have trained before
All levels classes run from 11:00 to 12:30 every weekday and from 18:00 to 19:30 Monday to Friday, alternating Gi and No-Gi through the week.
Saturday adds a Gi class at 11:00 and an open mat from 12:00 to 13:30 where you can roll without a taught lesson.
Gi or No-Gi that day
The midday and evening slots alternate. Monday, Wednesday and Friday are Gi in the evening and No-Gi at midday. Tuesday and Thursday are the reverse.
If you only brought a rash guard, Monday, Wednesday and Friday midday plus Tuesday and Thursday evening are your sessions.
Private lessons
One to one sessions run in the gaps around the group timetable, from 09:00 to 10:30 and from 13:00 to 16:00 Monday to Friday, plus Saturday afternoon from 14:00 to 16:00. They have to be booked in advance rather than dropped into.
Privates suit people working on something specific, anyone who would rather start away from a full room, and visitors on a short trip who want to compress a lot of correction into a few sessions.
Before you turn up
Message @gatostudio.bjj on Instagram to confirm the slot you want. Timetables at any academy shift around gradings, competitions and holidays, and a short message means you are not guessing from a web page.
Arrive fifteen minutes before the session starts so you can change, sort out a rental gi if you need one, and speak to the coach before the warm up.
